Meccano The Motor Car Constructor Outfit No.2 (1933)

This superb Meccano car was introduced in 1933 as a kit car for home construction. When I first saw this car I thought it was a replica it was that fresh and pristine, but no replicas have been made. It must have been restored by a highly skilled modeller who knew his craft well. All metal work is re-plated in nickel and paint finish is also superb. The clockwork motor is very powerful and runs well. It has the correct key as can be seen. There is a motor brake on the RHS in front of the rear wheel. Steering can be adjusted from the steering wheel via a screw on the steering column which holds the steering in the set position. The seat has the correct crackle finish in red. Tyres seem to be replicas as the rubber is fresh and supple one of the few things that indicate a restoration. One other might be the transfer on the tail that might be slightly later? I would feel very proud if I had completed this excellent restoration.
